About

Born and raised in the Canadian prairies. Ed worked for years as a contractor not having time for art. Painting truly began when life changed and Ed, his wife Nancy, and daughter Bethany decided to split life between the Canadian prairies and the Mexican coast.

The ocean made a definite impression on Ed.

Life in Mexico was a regular routine of running their bookstore – Libreria Sayulita, surfing/paddle boarding, and painting. Ed was drawn to waves in two ways, surfing them and painting them.

Discovering encaustic painting brought the energy and life to the waves that Ed needed.

The combination of beeswax and damar resin provides a stable medium. Ed discovered he was inspired and found great satisfaction in painting with the hot wax. Using hot plates, torches and heat guns Ed is able to create and fuse vibrant colours with depth and texture.
